Loss of progress could occur due to multiple issues. It appears that suspending the client may be a factor in this, and it may also be caused by potential sync issues with PlayStation’s cloud. Unfortunately, once this occurs, your prior save data cannot be recovered.
How to prevent this from happening again
For the time being we suggest that you Save & Quit between sessions and that you disable Auto-Sync if using the cloud.
To disable Auto-Sync:
Open your PlayStation Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS5) > Sync Saved Data > Auto-Sync Saved Data > Off
Your saves will still be uploaded to the cloud, but you will receive a prompt before any overwrite occurs. Unless you need to specifically pull your cloud data, we suggest you decline.
Submitting a Help Request
If you are seeing this issue, have Auto-Sync disabled and are not suspending your client, please reach out to us with any information you can provide; particularly about where the save was reverted and what you were doing at and after the point it reverted.
Also, if you believe you have a reliable way to reproduce this issue in general while suspending your client, we would be happy if you would like to provide any information about that to help with our investigation of this issue.
