Saves by Platforms
Save files for Slime Rancher 2 are stored locally on Steam and Epic, and can be transferred with relative ease.
However Microsoft and Sony manage saves via their accounts and only support transferring save data between their respective accounts. These saves may only be moved in regards to those accounts, so for example, if you use Xbox’s cloud you could access your save game from your Xbox console or PC with Xbox App.
In the case of Steam, there is the option to store save data on their Cloud. It should be noted that Early Access was not launched with support for the Steam Cloud, so if you played initially, your saves would only be local to the system you played on.
Locating your files
You can find your save files for Steam and Epic in the following locations:
Steam:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\MonomiPark\SlimeRancher2\Steam\<SteamUserId>
Epic:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\MonomiPark\SlimeRancher2\Epic\<EpicUserId>
Please note that you will need to replace <username> with the name of your user folder. Also, by default, the AppData folder will be hidden, so you will want to change your settings to view hidden content, or manually enter "\AppData" into the address bar.
File Format and Management
Names of each file will be the date and time at which the file was created, with a “_0” through “_5” at the end. Each of these files is its own save file from a different point, and the one with the most recent time modified will be your most recent game progress.
If you ever want to load from a prior save point, you can move the most recent version to a different folder location, which will load the next most recent file.
Also of note is that each file is linked to a save slot, so if you copy a save from another system and there is already a save in that folder for that slot in the load menu, it will only show one of the files.
Possible Issue
If you are not seeing your saves in the load menu, one possibility is that it is not detecting your Steam or Epic account. In this case, it may create a folder with the ID of 0 in the direction of your Steam or Epic saves. If this appears to be the case, we’ve found that reinstalling the platform software seems to correct this.
