Monomi Park’s Approach:
Developing in Early Access
Launching into Early Access/Game Preview means that at launch, Slime Rancher 2 will be incomplete. It will not have all of the features, slimes, environments, items, story, etc. that will ultimately be found in the full game. We have taken great care to ensure that Slime Rancher 2 will always feel relatively whole and worth playing at any point in its development.
Early access provides us with the opportunity to hear what our players have to say and pivot accordingly. It allows us more flexibility to ensure we’re providing a finished game that meets our goals as developers, and the expectations of players.
We have no intention of delivering updates in a knowingly unstable state, or treating our players as QA testers instead of customers. Those that have experience with our Early Access/Game Preview development for Slime Rancher have seen this first hand, and we intend to do the same for Slime Rancher 2.
Sustainable Development
Slime Rancher 2 is created by a small team of passionate developers who care immensely about our games, and each other. Team health and overall quality are both extremely important to us at Monomi Park. Being a no crunch studio is core to who we are, and something we actively protect. We believe that treating our team well is key to giving players our best.
This can mean taking extra time to ensure a feature is done right as opposed to rushing it out to meet a deadline. We hope that you will be patient with us as we work on our updates, and know that we are always doing our best to release features that will add more of what you already love about Slime Rancher, reveal more about the secrets of Rainbow Island, and expand the potential of Slime Rancher’s established gameplay.
Thank you again for your continued support of Slime Rancher 2. We hope you enjoy more of this strange, beautiful, and wiggly world we’re building for you to explore.
